James Molloy, Tramore Co. Waterford look up
« on: Saturday 03 August 13 11:09 BST (UK) »
Hello folks, I am trying to establish if my Great Grandfather was born Tramore, Co.Waterford.

I had made contact with the Waterford Heritage Services who conducted a search for a fee and response was that he was not, so this is more of an attempt to clarify (at no cost....  ::))

He is listed in Irish Casualties of War as 14308 Pvt James Molloy - 1st Bn Royal Scots Fusiliers being born, Tramore Co Waterford. I have established that he was born 1881 through census records and marriage certificate, I am confident about his year of birth.

Any information appreciated

In a reply to your query on the Armed Forces forum the place of birth is given as Tramore, Co. Tyrone. Tramore might be mistranscribed and maybe it should be Tremoge which is a townland near Omagh, Co. Tyrone.
There is a birth for a James Molloy on the civil indexes on familysearch.org  -
     District: Omagh,
     Year: 1881
     Qtr: 1
     Vol: 2
     Pg: 288

Thanks for taking the time to look at Noel.

Thinks it's a definite that James Molloy wasn't born in Co Waterford in the year 1881
