Wolleys at Dudley
« on: Saturday 18 April 09 18:32 BST (UK) »
Hi,
On the 20th February 1815 Thomas Perry married Fanny Woolley at St Thomas in Dudley. But in trying to identify the parents of Fanny I find on the IGI that there are two possibilities:
1.   Bp on the 25th February 1798, the daughter of Mason Woolley and Anne
2.   Bp on the 16th December 1798, the daughter of Thomas Woolley and Fanny

Today I've received a copy of the marriage entry in the hope that one of the witnesses would help me identify the parents; and one of the witnesses was George Woolley (brother?), the other being Mark Bond. But when I again search the IGI for a possible matching baptism for George Woolley I find again two possibilities:
1. Bp 1794 the son of James Woolley & Sarah
2. Bp 1803 the son of Benjamin Woolley & Ann

So none of the parents match with those for Fanny.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might proceed?

Just noticed on the freereg web site that a Fanny Woolley and her sister Elizabeth were both baptised on the 24th December 1809. They were the daughters of James & Sarah Woolley, who also had a son George.

If Fanny was, say 13, at the time of her baptism, then this would be a possible explanation. Her brother George (Bp 1794) witnessing the marriage in 1815.

I can't add anything to help identify the correct Fanny Woolley, except to add that I'm a direct descendant of Fanny Woolley who married Thomas Perry in 1815 through their daughter Fanny Perry, baptised 08 Sep 1822 at St. Thomas Church, Dudley.  She married Andrew Bunn in 1839.  Their known children were:  Henry, John & Priscilla.  Priscilla was my gt. gt. grandmother.  Are you related to that family?

Thanks for getting back to me, Ian, and no worry about the delay; I've just joined RootsChat & it won't let me reply to personal messages.  Fanny Woolley Perry is also my 4xgt.     Kim
