1871 & 1861 Census lookup BARRETT

Hi All

Looking for Martin BARRETT in the 1871 census (and possibly 1861).  Not sure what county - sorry.

I have him arriving in Queensland as a 19 year old in 1876 - therefore born about 1857.  the ship left from Plymouth.  He could have a sister Mary who was 21 in 1876.  His father's name could be Thomas.

Not much to go on, but hoping someone can help.

This is the only Martin Barrett with that spelling that pops up for 1861 in the right age range......

Again, in 1871 this is the only Martin Barrett….with that spelling …..who was born mid 1850s……

OK.  Thanks Dee.  Maybe the Mary - sister, and Thomas - father are wrong.  I have Mary Barrett arriving on the same ship in 1876.  She marries Nicholas Warren.  Then I have a Mary Warren death in 1913 - father Thomas Barrett.  Could be a wild goose chase, that one.

I have just searched using a number variations of spelling for Barrett and then some variations of Martin.......and nothing came up that looked likely, I am afraid.


Do you have Martin's death certificate? If so, did that give his parents?

I just checked FreeBMD....and at this stage there are only 3 results for a search for Mart  Barr*tt born between 1850 and 1860.....

a Martin Barratt in Oldham in 1852
a Martin Barrett in Manchester in 1853
and a Martin Barrett in Leeds in 1854

Lots of Marthas came up though!
