Able Seaman David McRae - WW2

Had posted this in Military but perhaps better here.

I wonder if anyone can help me find out a bit about David McRae? There is a David McRae on our WW2 BB War Memorial in Leith, Edinburgh who I am trying to research.

I know there was a David McRae born in 1919 in Leith, Edinburgh through careful using-no-credits-searching on SP! I know that a David McRae age 24 has a death registered in Jul/Aug/Sept 1943 in Hull, ie born c 1919. I know that a David McRae was awarded the Albert medal for lifesaving on board SS Broughty in July 1943 - he lost his own life as a result.

What I don't know is - could this be the same man and could he be the one on our war memorial? I cannot find a death on CWGC and there is only  one David McRae on the Scottish National War Memorial site - the one on the SS Broughty. Sounds like it could be the same man but is there enough proof to be sure?
