William Longmore - Address on Burial Record, Birmingham 1844
« on: Friday 10 January 14 20:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have recently found a burial record for my 4x gt grandfather William Longmore (1783-1844) at St Martin's Church, Birmingham. The burial took place on the 20th January 1844, his age was given as 62 & his address, well I'm fairly sure that the address says Horse Fair.

Is this address correct? If so where was it? I found the record in the Birmingham Burials on Ancestry.

I apologise for not posting/attaching the bit in question, but when it comes to cutting bits out & doing whatever needs to be done before attaching/posting it, I haven't a clue what I'm doing to be honest!

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards

David

Hi David

I googled and found this

http://billdargue.jimdo.com/placenames-gazetteer-a-to-y/places-h/the-horse-fair/

Have you got him in the 1841 census? does that address tie up?

Hi Dawn,

Many thanks indeed for your replies, very much appreciated.

That's brilliant, I have got him in 1841, but in London although he was born & and died in Birmingham. The family was known to be in the centre of Birmingham, St Martin's appearing to be their local church.

Many thanks again.

Kind regards

David

Hi Jim,

Many thanks for your reply, very much appreciated.

Many thanks for the map, that is absolutely brilliant! Which map is that by the way? I ask as it would be interesting to see more of the map as he was part of the Longmore brass founding family & business, which from memory was at St Mary's Row, Birmingham at this time.

Many thanks again.

Kind regards
