Hi,

Thanks for this too.  I really must find some time to revisit this side of the family, as I'm sure there must be loads of other family members still to be 'found'.

Best wishes

Hi Jim,

I'm afraid I don't know much about the Beatons but Marion Macleod from Galtrigill was a daughter of Donald, son of William, son of Alexander, son of Donald, son of John of Raasay. Donald son of John of Raasay was the tacksman of Galtrigill, he was one of those who helped Prince Charlie escape in 1746, his wife was a cousin of Flora Macdonald.

All the Best
G.

Hi G,

I was wondering if you had any dates on Marion MacLeod as my 4xgreat grandmother was Marion Macleod (abt 1775) Galtrigill she married John Campbell.

Anything more would be useful to confirm either way if I am or not descended from the Princes Pilot????

Cheers

Hi Scott,

Marion was born c1816, she had a sister, another Marion, born in 1822. Their brother Norman(my 2xgreat grandfather) was in Galtrigill on the 1841 cesus, he was living with a Donald and Margaret Campbell and family.
I'd say there's a fair chance he was related to them in some way.

Regards
G.

Hi G,

I'm having a problem locating a couple Neil MacLeod & Christina MacLean who had a family but no marriage found to date.

Do you have any info. on Norman & Christina's issue?
Do you know if either married twice?
Do you know if they divorced/split up?
Do you know if she was widowed?
Do you know if he was widowed?

I'm trying to work out if she had issue before she met Neil as I have what seems to be their kids but no birth certs. found?

I have 4 kids who might be hers but not sure?
Mary c 1848
Ann c 1849
Roderick Gordon c1853 - 1855
Murdoch c 1856

Roderick & Murdoch moved to Govan where both married & had families.

Just trying to find the correct parents.

This is probably way off the mark but I'm trying all scenarios now.

This seems to be Christina's death if I have the right one?

CHRISTY MACLEOD 60 Married to Neil MacLeod – 03-01-1891 – Lusta, Waternish
Parent's William MacLean & Ann MacKinnon – Informant Neil MacLeod (Hus)

Regards,

Annie.

Sorry scutty I'm not familiar with that family.

Annie, my Christina/Chirsty died in 1917, she was married to a Norman not a Neil.

Best of luck-G.
