I've been staring at those words and can't figure them out. But I wonder if they are all abbreviations.

Are there any other similar word groupings on the same page?

It could be something like ... Dup Cert. rec’d
e.g. Duplicate Certificate received

I think you're right, Bookbox.  I have read through many pages of discharged soldiers and found a few clearer examples of the same notation.  No idea what it means, though, in relation to the discharge of Emerson Mitchell.

Here are some of the best examples I found:
Wiltshire:  Banks, Taylor
Somerset:  Duddridge, Richards, Barnard, Pillinger
Gloucestershire:  Barnard, Marsh, Crossman
Bristol:  Banks, Duddridge, Barnard
Down:  Ennis, McGee
Wicklow:  Chapman, Pepper
Wigtownshire:  Logan, Conning
Wisconsin:  Ennis, Chapman, Logan, Ware
Maine:  Ware, Mitchell, Tarr, Davis

I would guess it means that the soldier had received a duplicate copy of the discharge certificate?

Or perhaps the appropriate army office had received a duplicate of the certificate given to the soldier?

In any case, I don't think it tells you anything more about the man himself.  :)

Maybe, but the majority did not get this notation in their records.

Bristol:  Banks, Duddridge, Barnard
