Emma Lucille Ford North Carolina

Hi

I'm trying to find out more about my Great Grandmother Emma Lucille Ford. As far as I am aware she was born in North Carolina and married my Great Grandfather Jesse H Brady. They moved to South Carolina where my Grandfather was born.

Can someone please suggest the best resource to access to find Emma's parents and any other of her forebears.

Any info will be much appreciated.

Do you have a date of birth for them or your grandfather?  A marriage record or death record for Emma?

This site looks to be interest.  A search here shows Emma Lucille Brady's death and also makes reference to a marriage in 1916 in Dillon Co, SC of a Emma Barfield to Jesse Brady (ages match up).
It seems you can request by email some of the obituary records.

Death of a "Lloyd William Barfield", parents Gordon Barfield and Emma Ford.

I would suggest that you try to track down copies of:
1) Emma's obituary/death certificate
2) Both marriages (she married Gordon Barfield then Jesse Brady).

These may not be found online; you may have to contact local courthouses, archives, etc, directly to obtain copies.  Where you go next depends on whether or not these records show you anything about Emma's parents, or at least a more specific birthdate and place.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I had managed to trace Jesse Brady's line back quite far but I was completely unaware of of a Emma's first marriage. Also many thanks for the search tips and other information. I'm sure I'll be able to make a bit of headway now.
