Well searched claire.t ;D

I believe there were two parishes in Foleshill in the 1840s as I have a Dubock sideline who migrated to there in the 1840s and while familysearch lists five children, three baptised at Foleshill St Paul, and the other two at Foleshill St Lawrence, I've only found the Foleshill St Lawrence baptisms on ancestry.  This may be why William and Charlotte Byfield's children's baptisms are not viewable. :-\

The BMGSH are showing Foleshill St Paul's baptism registers starting in 1841, ancestry when browsing the collection state they have them from 1850 but in fact if you view the register it starts in 1874.

Thank you Claire :-)  I guess the 1851 census return rules out Thomas and Rebecca as John's parents.  I've realised that I have the 1861 return for Charlotte - the household is Charlotte CHAPLIN and son Frederick BIFIELD, so the 1850 wedding to William CHAPLIN would make sense - I thought she'd gone back to her maiden name, but this would explain it.  Thanks again for helping to clarify the unclear :-)

Just one more thing - I'd be curious to see where John was in the 1861 census, he was an iron planer and the family seemed to move around fairly regularly as these birth places of his children show:

Charlotte Elizabeth b. Darlaston, Staffordshire 1866
Thomas (John Thomas) b.Wednesbury, Staffordshire 1867
Amelia b. Wednesbury, Staffordshire 1870
William b. Foleshill, Warwickshire 1873
Mary Ann b. Halifax, Yorkshire 1875
Rosa b. Normanton, Yorkshire 1878
Arthur b. Normanton, Yorkshire 1879
Joseph Elijah b. Luton, Bedfordshire 1884
