Please can anyone help find parents of Charles Potts born 1858 Galashiels  He married  Ellen B Handford  in 1882 in  Cheshire EnglandI cannot find him in the 1881 census for Scotland  or England  Any help much appreciated   Thank you Tineke

The only 1861 entry for a Charles Potts shows birthyear 1858 but birthplace Kirkinner Wigtownshire

What is his fathers name and occupation on his marriage cert

There is a Charles Potts born Wigtownshire 1858 at Whithorn Wigtownshire on the Scottish 1881 Census according to Familysearch.
This could be the one CaroleW has found in 1861.

The 1861/1881 Charles Potts is not in Scotland in 1891 so although the 1891 does show Galashiels as his birthplace - sight of or a copy of the full 1882 marriage would show his fathers occ

1861/1871 shows William as an agricultural labourer

Is it too coincidental that Charles & Ellen's first 2 children were Charles William and Margaret E

Wife Ellen Bradshaw Potts died in 1895 and in 1896 Charles married Esther Jones
