Jones/Rees
« on: Thursday 25 February 10 16:56 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for info on ancestors of Margaret Jones circa 1845 & John Rees circa 1842 married on 11/11/1868 at Tirbach, Cromamman.  Marriage cert gives Fathers William Jones and Thomas Rees both Colliers.  When married cert gives residences of Hendre Cottage, Cromamman, Llandilofawr for Margaret & Tirbach, Cromamman, Llandilofawr for John.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Dennis

You might wish to check some of the spellings  ...

Cromamman is more likely to be Cwmamman - the Amman Valley that runs from Ammanford north-east up to Brynamman. Just to make life difficult, in the 1850s, Ammanford (or Rhydaman in Welsh) was actually called Cross Hands; whilst Brynamman (trans = Source of the Amman) was known as Quarter Bach.

The only Tir Bach I could find is over the top of the Amman Valley across the border into Glamorgan (http://www.tytwp.plus.com/Waun/Census.html) but it is Cwmamman.  The trouble is that would not be registered under Llandeilofawr which is Carmarthenshire.
Thomas, Davies, Jones, Walters, Daniel in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. That should narrow it down a bit!
Vincent: Fressingfield, Suffolk, Stockton & Sunderland.
Murtha/Murtaugh: Dundalk & Sunderland
Ingram: Cairnie by Huntly, Scotland then Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.
Bardouleau: London - in memory of my stepmother Annie Rose née Bardouleau who put up with a lot from me.
