Thank you very much for the Parish Record information you've provided, it really has been a big help.

The Marriage you referred to between Thomas Symons and Laura Woodland I believe to be the correct people I'm looking for. I've managed to link Laura Woodland to Paulton, Somerset by the birthplace stated on her 1911 Census Record.

I'm struggling with Thomas Symons place of birth. I don't suppose the Parish Records give any indication?

Parish baptism records do not give that sort of information about fathers, unfortunately (other than special ones which do not apply here).

I suggest you have a look at a full 1911 entry for this chap, to see what his precise role in the Navy was:
