grandfather search
« on: Thursday 23 October 14 14:24 BST (UK) »
Hi I'm looking for Alexander Davis DOB around 1904. Married in East London 6.9.1930 to Annie Mary Turner. His age is stated as 26yrs "plumber" born in Scotland. They had a son Ronald John Davis DOB jan 1931. Basically Im looking for a DOB for Alexander Davis and anything else in order claim Scots ancestry. I have a downloaded copy of marriage register and Ronald's baptismal cert.

I think you should post this under Scotland as I am sure you will have a much better response there as you seem to have all the South African information.

Good luck!

Yes I put it up yesterday but need a date of birth for him which I thought I'd get in SA but nothing on the docs I've managed to find. Would there be anything on the Naairs site? Ships passengers? I just cant get the hang of that site. But thanks a million

You didn't need to start yet another thread for the same query.

You could have just clicked on report to moderator and asked for the message to be move

You will end up with people replying in 3 different places and asking the same questions.

Do you know where he died?  Naairs generally covers divorces, estate files and other odd things like adoptions and various court cases.

If he died in Scotland perhaps there is an estate file for him there.  Possibly there would also be a shipping list showing him returning there.

I had a look at eggsa.org but could not find a photographed tombstone for either him or Annie.
