John Robert WILTON - Major HP in Army
« on: Monday 19 September 05 21:44 BST (UK) »
Found in 1861 England census - John Robert WILTON, head, Mar, 42, Major HP in the army, b. Chatham, Kent.  His wife is listed as Betsy Tanish ?, wife 42.  Two children are listed as British Subjects b Van Diemans Land (about 1848 & 1851) Does this indicate that Wilton was in the army in Van Diemans Land...is that Australia or New Zealand??  Where do I look for his army records??  Peedee in Canada

Just one question what does HP stand for ???
