Sergeant Hugh McGroggan- The Londonderry Militia
« on: Friday 03 October 14 15:46 BST (UK) »
My GGG Grandfather Hugh McGroggan served some 21years in the Londonderry Militia from 1794 until 1816. Ref: National Archives, Kew, WO 119/33/186 Kilmainham A9689.
Does anyone know where I can find details of service records, campaigns, medals or awards etc
which cover his period of service?
Look forward to receiving any pointers or references.

If any records survive, I think they are likely to be in Kew.

Many thanks to Elwyn & rathmore for the information. I do have a copy of this Certificate of Service for Hugh McGrogan but it lacks detail about any campaigns he was involved in, postings in Ireland, Great Britain or overseas etc. In other words where was he actually located  between 1794 and his retirement "in consequence of Rheumatisim and being worn out" in 1816?
