Parish records GILLILAND
« on: Sunday 16 January 05 04:57 GMT (UK) »
Looking for some kind sole to hopefully do look up for my Gilliland ancestors. I have the following info John Gilliland married Jane McCann 16 Nov 1848. Richhill Armagh. His parents were William Gilliland and his mother Mary Ann Anderson. John born Hamiltons Bawn approx. 1821. There are also three children born to John and Jane Gilliland - Joseph Ernest Gilliland born approx. 1852,  William Henry born approx. 1858 and Sarah Jane born approx. 1861. John and Jane along with the three children listed above migrated to Queensland Australia in 1862.There are now many Gillilands in Queensland most of which are related to this original family. I would really appreciate any information on any of the above

Many thanks
Debbie

Hi Debbie,

Jane McCann - head of household at Broad Street, Richhill, Co. Armagh in Griffith Valuations of Co. Armagh, 1864.

The Irish Flax Growers List 1796 for Co. Armagh shows 5 Gillilands -
John    - Armagh
John    - Loughgilly
John    - Mullaghbrack
Robert - Loughgilly
William - Mullaghbrack

What branch of the Christian faith was followed by the Gilland family ?

Christopher
