Early BDM indexes for NSW - lookup wanted please!

Hi. Just wondering if some kind rootschatter might have access to the early volumes of BDM for NSW. My local library has them, but I think they are shut at moment for building works.

Looking for the children of Laurence/Lawrence and Mary MURPHY.

Laurence b.1847 reg.no. V1847 3807 64
Bridget b.1849 reg.no. V1849 1328 66

I am unsure of what you expect to find in the BDM's outside of the reference numbers you have. These are actually church records transcribed into the BDM's at a much later stage from submitted church returns. The only way to get more information is to either buy the certs or get transcriptions from a licensed agent.

The NSW BDM has just undergone a major software "Upgrade" which has now virtually made lookups impossible or impractical or just plain arduous. However if you wish to try you can use.

Hi Neil and Merlin. Thanks for replies. Neil, I was after the pre-registration records, which is what my local library has on film (but they are rennovating at present and therefore shut). These do give a little more information that just the registration numbers!

For anyone else reading, these are for NSW pre registration in 1856.

Thanks Merlin for looking them up. Do you have access to them at home? From a website? I two early burials that I would be interested in getting looked up if you are able to.
