John Gregory born 1881 Cheshire

Just had another dig and found there was a second child Arthur , who died 16th March 1885.
Mary Ellen Gregory wife of John Gregory died 20th April 1885.

Their 8 month old son Arthur died  16th March 1885


Have found a photo of the gravestone with Mary Ellen and Arthur (on line  billion graves or some such.)  which also lists John Gregory pere with his father and Mother' names   John and Bertha.

John Gregory died 17th February 1825 aged 70 years

Bertha Gregory aged 74 years died  January 27th 1828

Mary Ellen's husband is  not listed on the gravestone which is odd.   Need to find where the quarryman died.

Thats a great find.

But I still want to know when John left UK

 ::)Carol just looked at the details of the Church.  You have solved a small family mystery.  My Great grandfather farmed Weston Cross and Clifton Hall at one and the same  time.  I had been told that Clifton Hall was in Nantwich.    Could not find it at all.  On reseach I found it firmly in Weston.

Your church says its in Nantwich so thats ok then!

John Gregory 21 bachelor stone setter of Weston ,father Robert Eaton Gregory sawyer.
Married Mary Ellen Griffiths 20 spinster also of Weston ,father William Griffiths farmer.

Witnesses Thomas Brown and Mary Elizzie Ward.Everyone signed their names.

Married on 2nd July 1879 in the parish church in Runcorn.

Can't find anymore baptisms to John and Mary Ellen,other than John 1881 and Arthur 1884.

I'm trying to narrow down when dad John died,so here he is in 1891.

At 14 Speakenase? street Runcorn.

Had a look on the South African database for John Gregory, nothing appears, looked on Anglo Boer War website, nothing appears either.

Thank you for finding John Gregory senior.  up to 1901  I did wonder if he had married again.  There was a likely JG married with a vast number of children in the same area.  But obviously he did not marry again before 1901. So that was not the gentleman I found.

What is a stationary engine driver???

He is not on the family grave so its is likely that he did go on to marry after 1901. Will see what I can find now I have recouped.
