1841, St pancreas1851,1861
« on: Friday 26 November 04 05:47 GMT (UK) »
On behalf of someone else I am looking for the following family:

Address in 1871
17 Glocester Place, Greenwich, United Kingdom.

Lewis Robert Bellamy born abt 1807 Middlesex, Westminster, United
Kingdom. Retired Solicator
His wife Henrietta Jane Bellamy  nee Gunnell born abt 1812

Children
Walter Lewis Bellamy born unknown date and an elusive ancestor
Lytton Bellamy  male born 1840  Middlesex, St Pancreas, United Kingdom
Evelyn  Bellamy  born abt 1842  Middlesex, St Pancreas, United Kingdom
Ada Bellamy   born abt 1846    Middlesex, St Pancreas, United Kingdom
Questions from 1871:
In 1871 the family, minus Walter and Henrietta, were in London. Walters family is also there minus him with his wife still listed as married as does Lewis' entry (Walters father) so where was Walter and Henrietta?
From 1841:
The family were living in St pancreas according to the births that took place there in 1841, So if someone has any idea of where to look I would appreciate help.
In between anything!!
Ruth

Lewis Robert Bellamy died in 1878 at Greenwich
Henrietta Jane Bellamy died aged 88 in 1900 at Kensington (he left her or she left him?) June qtr, vol 1a, page 125.
Iv'e looked for Henrietta in 1881 & 1891 and even using just christian name and looking for the approx age she doesn't show!
I think your friend will have to purchase the death cert to find out exactly where she was at time of death?

Walter Lewis Bellamy was very ill and died relatively young... His son Walter William Bellamy was my grandmothers father and he died in Durban South Africa in 1914 of consumption while on a trip from Pedi in the Eastern Cape where he was based as a senior Policeman.  Walter W had schooled at Christs Hospital where I believe his grandfather had him entered at a young age. Walter W is buried amongst my mothers family in Stellawood cemetery in Durban, South Africa.

I know that Jessie Glanville Bellamy died in Peacehaven in 1952 leaving the house in her will to my father and uncle. Someone lived in the house until the 70's who was a relative... we are not sure who she was.

I would love to hear more about the family so any information would be welcome.

Thanks for the information... it is helpful... and the Welcome!

Are all the established Bellamys in Greenwich related?

I understand that Walter Lewis Bellamy was in Radnorshire Cusop when Walter William Bellamy was born in 1863.

I think it should be noted for posterity that St Pancras [as in the London terminus and several churches] and the pancreas, a gland, have different spellings!

This is an old post, but I don't care. I have been researching this line for over 10 years, but I was stuck on my ggrandmother and ggrandfather (Tallulah Matteson (Powell) Bellamy and Walworth Bruce Temple Bellamy, sometimes going by Bruce and sometimes going by Walworth, his dad was Harry/Henry Temple Bellamy, spelled Harry if you look closely-having a laptop I tilt my screen and see a marked difference with the contrast- on England censuses and Henry on American censuses, Henry's dad was Alan Bruce Charles Bellamy). I have been finding plenty of info this time around, but this is the first time I have found other people that I am related to. Meeting live people is just as exciting as meeting those long gone lol

I did not know about a nun, but I knew they were really into the church with having baptisms for everyone and Alan being a Vestry Clerk. I tried to see if anyone else worked with a church, but nothing came up. It amazes me what Is out there and fully searchable yet does not return with various search terms that should pull the record(s)...like this post that was found today and I've been at it for a couple weeks (this time around). (Dig through those pages of results! lol)

I've been daydreaming about going to England to try and further my research. This series of messages cheered me up a little bit... thank you :)
