Martin Murray
« on: Wednesday 09 April 14 22:00 BST (UK) »
I'm having real difficulty finding any further details on my 2x great grandfather, Martin Murray.
He appears on the 1851 Census living in Wales and is listed as born in Ireland.
He died in 1857 and his occupation was a School Master.
On the 1851 Census he is living with his Wife (Sarah) and family in Denbigh, Wales. He is living with a Patrick McFadden & family, who are listed as a relatives.  On the 1871 Census Patrick McFadden has his birthplace as Westport.
Coincidentally Martin Murray's Daughter Mary, married a Michael Riley in 1857 in Wales, who I believe was born in Swinford.

Many thanks in advance.

www.rootsireland.ie for baptism records in Mayo. Do you have Martins marriage record if so it may have his fathers name.
www.nationalarchives.ie where you can view Griffiths Valuation for circa years mid 1850's also Tithe Applotment Books (if you discover his fathers name) you could then research further in ireland :)

Unfortunately I have really struggled to locate records on Martin Murray.  His death certificate in 1857 has his age as 60.   His Wife Sarah died in Wales in 1894 aged 98.
I've struggled to find any clues not just in Co. Mayo, but throughout Ireland.
