Ok, Im ordering two birth certs thanks to your guys' help.  One more question tho that you might know.  My paternal gpa was born in India because his father was in the UK military.  He would have been a UK citizen though and the family moved back to Scotland a while later.  I have had no luck finding an Indian birth certificate.  Would his birth be registered in the UK since his father was in the military?  Or is there anyways I can prove he was a UK citizen without actually having a birth certificate?

Thanks!

Hi

You'll need to be searchng the GRO overseas indexes or looking for a baptism entry.

The overseas records are online but the complete collection of India records isn't.

Can you post his name?

But if you have a copy of his baptism certificate, you shouldn't need to pay another £9.25 for his birth cert.

The authorities know that not all births were registered and an official certificate of baptism should suffice.
