My other half was born in Southbank but moved to Grangetown when he was small his father was a Grangetown man & worked the steel works
The one's he can remember in the Grangetown area where
between Grangetown & Redcar was Dorman Longs Lacanby Works
between south bank & Grangetown was the Dorman longs works
between south bank & Middlesbrough where the cargo fleet iron & steel works
near Dormans town (was next to grangetown) Dorman Longs Redcar iron & steel works
on top of all this you had the i.c.i. works no wonder the sky always had a yellow tint.
