James Shepherd Foley

Hi,
I am trying to find information on James Shepherd Foley and his parents/siblings. He was born 1913 in Glasgow and died in Kirkintilloch on the 4th November 1940 of TB.

He was married to my aunt Elizabeth (Nolan) and had a son (my cousin) also James Shepherd Foley who was born 6 weeks after he died.

My aunt remarried when James was 8 and my cousin did not know much about his father only when he was born and where and when he died.

My cousin is 75 next year and I would like to find out for him as much about his fathers family, where his father is buried whether he has any living relatives if possible.

To help with your post, might be worth adding details from the 1913 birth if you have this and parents' names for Joseph.

Were there any Foley surnames acting as witnesses to his marriage to Elizabeth Nolan?

All these details might help people connect to their families and names.

The 1913 birth certificate of James Shephard Foley will be available from http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  This is pay to view site but £7 worth of credits will get you a search of the index and a downloadable copy of the relevant birth certificate. This birth certificate will say who the parents of James were, including the mother's maiden name. You can then continue searching from there.
AYRSHIRE - Strachan, McCrae, Haddow, Haggerty, Neilson, Alexander
ABERDEENSHIRE (Cruden and Longside) - Fraser, Hay, Logan, Hutcheon or Hutchison, Sangster
YORKSHIRE (Worsbrough) - Green, Oxley, Firth, Cox, Rock
YORKSHIRE (Royston and Carlton) - Senior, Simpson, Roydhouse, Hattersley

MonicaL thanks for the welcome and the advise. I don't have any documentation marriage cert etc for james only the dates my cousin gave me   ;) :)
