You may interested in some snippets about both Braidwood Thomas & Florence which appear in "Papers Past". In particular one with the heading "Bathing Fatality" in the 'Poverty Bay Herald' dated 16.1.1907.

It is cheaper to obtain a printout from New Zealand BDM. May contain more information and can be e-mailed to you.

Braidwood Thomas married Alice Maude Skillicorn in 1890. Parents' names should appear on this marriage printout. To find out just what information is captured go to "Data Collected" on the NZ BDM website.

He died in 1954 aged 92 years. A son? Braidwood Raymond Higgins, died in 1987, d.o.b. 26.4.1910.

Hello,

As I can only seen one mention of a Braidwood Thomas/Thomas Braidwood Higgins, I will throw this into the mix.

I notice there are a couple of trees @ Ancestry and Mundia (free to join) that show a Braidwood Thomas Higgins born in 1862 in Massachusetts, USA and died 1954 in Palmerston North .... parents are listed as Henry Higgins and Elizabeth Armfield.

Trees should be treated with a grain of salt.

I have also noticed in my search that Braidwood has also been spelt as Bradwood.

Yes Minnie, the son is mentioned in the tree.

A Lillie Mason HIGGINS married Henry CURRIE in 1890.

This lady (Lillie Mason) CURRIE died in 1916, aged 70 years..............

There is a school record for a Lilie Higgins who attended Ormond School, with a Birth date of 12 December 1871.  Not saying it is the lass you are searching for, but for elimination purposes.

There is an Henry Higgins buried in Ormond Cemetery (Gisborne) and an Elizabeth Higgins with a burial date of 17/12/1915 buried at  Makaraka aged 87.

Wouldn't that Lillie Mason Higgins have been born in 1846?

But there is a Lillie Mason Currie who died in 1921 aged 46 = 1875 buried in the     Makaraka Cemetery Gisbborne.
