information for mandypea ref annie rooney of diffreen  glencar co leitrim annie never married she had a son called charles  he was iligitamit son  and his father was also a rooney no relation first name charles of townamachugh  glencar he had been in british army first world war vet,, when charles annies son grew up he was a foreman in the mine in glencar and when it closed he went to england, later he went back to glencar and then he moved to kilvoggy where he died , i worked with him in the mine and lived in same house as him in london, he was a good man,, annie had a brother called paddy  and they lived in the same house in glencar where charles was brought up ,, paddy was in america for a few years and came back to glencar and bought land, from stewards, near difreen bridge glencar  colkuk

The annie rooney you are talking about here was my granmother,  Charlie her on was my father and he had 9 children of which I am one.  The rest of the information is accurate. Does any one know where to find articles on an incident that was heard in court  and may have been printed in newspapers from Glencar area around 1919?

Leitrim Co.Library have old newspapers in their archives.
The Leitrim Observer 1903 - 1920 + 1923 - present.
Staff will copy documents for 1 euro each & post them,to a maximumof 20 copies.

This library is located in Ballinamore,Co.Leitrim.

Site is www.leitrimcoco.ie  ( library is one of services provided by Co.Council)

This + others circulating then in Leitrim should cover Glencar
