Elizabeth Maude seems to have married Irish-born James Grove White Crofts, at one time a British India Office surgeon and later in the Royal Army Medical Corps, in Staines in Dec qtr 1891.

James died at St Thomas' Hospital on 6 March 1901, and in the census of 31 March 1901 as Maude G Crofts, 32 b Barnes, she appears as a widowed visitor in London.  As Elizabeth Maude Grove Crofts she was granted administration of James' estate of only £18.

She remarried in Hampshire in 1903 to George Cuthbert Dillon Masterson and may be the Elizabeth M Dillon-Masterson awarded a WW1 medal for services as a canteen worker with the French Red Cross.

In case this is of interest: this guy studied at Oxford University, Queens College - matriculated 8 feb 1886. I researched him years ago as I was told a family member called Ayers/Ayres went to Oxford and this is the only Ayers/Ayres that comes up for the right time. I think he lived in West Wycombe at some point which is where part of my family is from. Can't remember where I got this info from. Any info you have on him would be much appreciated.
