War records????
« on: Monday 09 June 14 15:30 BST (UK) »
My 6th great grandfather was lachlan Laughlin lochlan mcdonald. He was born in Scotland in the 1730s. He joined the highland frasers and came to canada to the battle of Quebec  he stayed over in the states and settled in New York. He married had children then fought in the revolution for the British. He died at the battle of waxhaws 1780   I was wondering if there are any available records in Scotland for the highland frasers from that time period. And if there are what would they contain. I've hit a roadblock with him and can't find anything else about him. His life is pretty well documented once he left Scotland. I just would like to know where he came from there. Thank you

Yes I was trying to give abbreviated history lol. When they disbanded in Quebec he headed to New York State. He received a land grant.  2 things are confusing....  My great grandmother said he had been knighted. And it has been told through obituary records that his son after his death was pensioned out and given the rank of lt colonel
