phoebe bruerton/brueton 1792
« on: Saturday 03 December 11 16:34 GMT (UK) »
hi staffs  :)
i have found my joseph and phoebe  bruerton/brueton  in birmingham on both the
1841(mistranscribed as branton) HO107; Piece 1149; Folio: 13; Page: 19
1851 (mistranscribed as burton) HO107; Piece: 2061; Folio: 382; Page: 37;

joseph born darlaston 1789
wife pheobe born handsworth 1792

i am sure this is the right family as they have a son elijah 1818 (my grt x3) and there are not many elijah bruetons  about)

the eldest son joseph is b 1815 darlaston (not on census with them)
the youngest is john b 1829 birmingham
they move sometime abt 1819 from the darlaston area into central birmingham
someone on rc ,very kindly ,found this as possible marriage for joseph and phoebe ,

from igi
Joseph Bruerton married Phoebe Dangerfield on 25 Aug 1805, St Lawrence, Darlaston near Wolverhampton, Staffordshire

and also on igi there is this ,  probably the above pheobes bapt

Phoebe Dangerfield, daughter of William Dangerfield and Lydia, christened 10 Sep 1781, St Bartholomew, Wednesbury, Staffordshire

but  is she my pheobe ?
did she marry so young ?
also there is an unusual gap between the 1805 marriage and the bpt of eldest son joseph 1815
she would be abt 52 when youngest son john is born
and  the bpt is at darlaston and the pob in census  is handsworth (though i know pob is not always the place baptised)
i know she may be my phoebe
but what does anyone else  think ?

thankyou for reading :)

p.s i may not be a  to reply straight away , as i dont have a pc at mo but can read on phone  (but it  wont let me answer in threads)

If that baptism is the right one and if the marriage is right - She was 24yrs old when she married which is not young

However - if Joseph was only b 1789 - he would have been barely 16 in 1805

Do you know for certain that Joseph was their firstborn?

Not if that baptism is correct born 1781 - 1829 = 46  but see new reply below

I have just looked at the 1841 and 1851 entries and their respective birthyears are consistent on both - 1789 and 1792 which definitely rules out an 1805 marriage

thankyou ever so much for looking  carole
yes i agree , i do not think it is the same phoebe and  joseph either,
thankyou for your second opinion , i know how good you all are at this so yes ,

a big problem i have with locating our joseph and phoebe  is that there is some confusion regarding our name , iv looked at most of the original images and found it as
brueton , bruerton , brewerton , bruton , burton , brittan , branton ?  and so on
ah well :)
back to the wild cards

thankyou again

I did eventually find the marriage but have now lost it  ::)
If anyone could find the details for me. The marriage was i think in Handsworth
Joseph Brueton (or variant) and Phoebe Perry
The eldest son we now believe to be
Thomas born about 1811
then
Joseph about 1815
Elijah 1818
Theophilus 1821
Henry 1823
Charles 1826
John 1829
Some of the sons were baptised late in Birmingham

Also think Joseph senior (married Phoebe) had a brother named Edward.
Edward Brueton m Elizabeth Cooper in 1812 at Handsworth St Marys. So maybe same church

Hi Again:

Just in case you don't have these, I wonder if these are some of the FreeREG baptisms. Wondered if the Mary baptized in 1815 was also part of the family.
