Identification of stripes on sleeve
« on: Saturday 05 July 14 17:36 BST (UK) »

I have a photo of my father wearing the uniform of a private in the 10th (Service) Battalion, 97th Brigade, 32nd Division, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders during WW1.  He served in France and Germany.  I cannot identify the three straight, horizontal stripes at the top of the left sleeve, just below the shoulder seam.  They do not signify rank or 'wounded'.  The nearest I can get is on a WW11 uniform where they identify the seniority of the battalion in which the soldier served.  Can anyone help please? Thanks

Would if I could but I can't!  Sorry to be feeble but nothing to tell me what to do with 'attachment' icon.  Have done the obvious, but still no result.  Any tips? Thanks

British Formation Signs.

Looks like 5th Troop Commando, (Black circle) British Liberation Army (3 horizontal stripes.)
