Where were the Daly/Daley Family 1901.?
« on: Monday 10 November 14 14:10 GMT (UK) »
I have William Daly married to Jane Kenny on the 22 April 1895 at St Paul's Church Arran Quay.
Both Full age, him Batchelor her Spinster Both are 'Servants'
Address for William 6 Brunswicke Villa's, Jane lived at what looks like 18 Auburn Place...William born Dublin, Jane was from Co Kildare (Cloncurry).
Parents William and Gerald (Garret)

I have some info on Jane's family in Cloncurry Co Kildarebut im interested in William Daly's side in Dublin.

They went on to have at least 5 Children, the last I know of was Desmond born circa 1914, who I couldnt find on birth register.

In 1901 I believe 2 of their children William aged 4 and Gerard 2 are with their Grandparent's Garret and Elizabeth Kenny at Cloncurry Co Kildare.
But I cant find their parents William or Jane on the census in either Dublin or Kildare in 1901.

In 1911 William and Jane are living at Sheriff Place with 2 Children Beatrice 6 and Christopher ,form states they 16yrs married  5 children born 4 living.
I could not find William jnr or Gerard on 1911 census..

Anyone any idea's.?

What was Williams occupation?  Maybe his job had taken him away from home and wife went with him.

Presume the older two children weren't still with grandparents in 1911  :-\
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Could this be William aged 36 in 1901?
LINK to Residents of a house 169 in Church Street (Arran Quay, Dublin) [see row 13] This is the same parish as marriage

A very long shot for Jane is this entry in the Workhouse in Kildare LINK
JD Married aged 30 but as she is shown from Athy and her parents were in Cloncurry .....

There are several Desmond Daly births 1913-1915 - have you ruled these out?

Hi I did notice that 36 yr old William in Church St and hadnt ruled him out.

I checked the 1914 Birth register for Desmond but came up with just 1 who wasnt born in Dublin..The date birth I was given for him was June 1914 and born in Dublin, im guessing its possible that he may not have been actually registered and a Baptismal cert used.

No Garret/Gerard Kenny is a widower living alone in Cloncurry in 1911.
Obviously his wife Elizabeth has died.

Perhaps Desmond was his middle name or his birth was registered before the name was chosen (would then be listed as 'male' in the index).
Have you considered this 1913 Dublin birth? (it's not uncommon for dates to be out by a year or more)

There are also several possiblities for 'male' births- https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Gerald in Artane industrial school in 1911.
You can get details from Christian Brothers by writing to them giving details of parents and known addresses

I will purchase the 'William Desmond Daly' birth Cert, I have very little to go on with him apart from his given age on 1911 Census and the Info on his Marriage Cert.
If the birth cert gives William snr as Father, then it will be a step in the right direction..

I know Jane had at least 3 brothers,Im looking at the possibilty that William Jnr and Gerald 'may' have been taken in by one of the Brothers after their Grandmother passed away between 1901-1911.??
