Patrick Gregory
« on: Saturday 11 February 12 00:54 GMT (UK) »
Hey everyone, I am looking for info on Patrick Gregory, my 5x great-grandfather. Info found on familysearch.org says he was born in Newbaum, Wexford, Ireland on 15 FEB 1815, and married Julia Keough (b. 1824) on 27 FEB 1842.
I am looking for any records/info to corroborate this info. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The two records that mention Patrick are both submitted rather than extracted records - so there's no source details.

Birth of Patrick Gregory - 1815

Marriage of Patrick Gregory - 1842

Do you know what denomination your Gregory family were ?

I suspect "Newbaum" may be a corruption r misreading of Newbawn/Newbaun which is a townland and village in Co. Wexford, in the Civil parish of Newbawn. The village is located just south of the road which runs between Wexford town and New Ross.

From what I have been told, they were Catholics.
Are there any online sources for records from the time he was born and married?

Co. Wexford is not currently included in either of the major Irish parish record websites - but RC records for the county are due to be added to the RootsIreland pay-website at some stage.

Newbawn was in the RC parish of Adamstown and this parish has records of baptism back to 1807 and marriages back to 1849. Microfilms of the registers are available in the NLI (National Library of Ireland) on film ref : Pos. 4258

Do you have the name of the townland or his mother or father's name.

Thanks for the help everyone. If anyone else can help in any way, it would be much appreciated! Hopefully someday I will get to visit Ireland and find out more on the ground.

Hi

I am also related to Patrick Gregory from Wexford, Ire. He is my great great grandfather. Have you got to go to Ireland yet? I would like to go there someday. I have wondering about the spelling of their last name. It does not sound very Irish, do you know if that was been changed any time in the past?
Thanks
