Hi Trish,

thank you for your help, I already have all the census records including the 1871 census that you were unable to locate. It was the just the church marriage record I was hoping to get hold of. Many thanks for taking the time to look for those census records though.

Kind regards,

James.

Glossop cemetery was not opened until 1858 so a burial in 1842 would most likely have been at the parish church (All Saints) or Littlemoor Chapel.

Thank you Graham, do you know if All Saints or Littlemoor Chapel registers are on line?  I suppose if her husband was buried at a Congregational Chapel, it's more likely she would have been buried at Littlemoor Chapel, rather than a C of E church.

I don't think they are on-line but I know the Glossop registers were filmed and Derbyshire CRO has a copy. They would probably be the best to approach about Littlemoor as well.

Graham - I've checked Derbyshire Record Office holdings on line and they have a CD of Littlemoor Independent, Whitfield which includes burials 1825-1883.  I've written to them about this, so await their reply with interest.

Their website shows they are currently working to make their collection of catalogues available on line - of course that doesn't mean we'll be able to view individual items on line.

I was a bit mystified by the reference to a CD, Lizzie, and having looked I think the CD175 is a catalogue reference rather than a reference to a CD for sale. However, no doubt you will be able to use the CRO search service. I've obtained copies of documents from them in the past and they were very good.

Graham - Derbyshire RC did say they would do research for £10 per half hour, but also sent me a link to where I could buy the CD - there are lots of other Derbyshire CDs for sale too.  It is £15 but as it has many other BMDs that I'm interested in I decided to buy the CD.

Thanks for all your help.

I looked for a CD purchase link, Lizzie, but couldn't find one. Would it be possible to post the link on this thread, please, as I would be interested in buying as well.
