Help deciphering 1574 will inventory
« on: Friday 18 April 14 14:51 BST (UK) »
The attached will inventory is reproduced with the kind permission of the Hampshire Record Office. It is the inventory of a Nicholas Flytt (whose descendants go by Fleet) from Chalton, Hampshire, in 1574.

It's the oldest document I've been able to locate that may relate to my ancestors (I think I am probably descended from an Arthur Fleet who married a Jone Michell on 10 November 1587 in Chalton - and died leaving a will in 1647 - and there is a baptism of an Arthur Fleet to Nicholas and Agnes in Chalton on 24 April 1561).

Are there any experts on 16th century handwriting who might be able to decipher any parts of the document? I am struggling. Maybe just any names or relationships that it mentions or infers?

I suggest you ask a Moderator to move this to the Deciphering & Recognition board, where others will doubtless improve on my poor effort below.

As usual the values don't add up correctly, so something is wrong  :(

Thanks so much for your help, that all seems to make sense and it is fascinating to read. I will ask for it to be moved to that board (I wasn't aware there was one) but it looks like you've pretty much nailed it. Thanks heaps again.
