Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Do you mean Knaggs?  If so - he died in Yorkshire and the 1841 shows his birthyear as 1766 and born in county (ie) Yorkshire and no occupation shown

Deaths June qtr 1847
Richard Knaggs      Guisborough    24   273

You say "of Garstang" - does that mean he was  actually born there

Garstang is in Lancashire - not Westmorland so I will ask the moderator to move your post to the Lancashire board

Is this one of his children

He was buried at St Nicholas Guisborough on 28.4.1847 but age is shown as 87 whereas he is 75 in 1841

That means his birthyear was substantially earlier than 1772.  It also doesn't explain the connection to Garstang when the 1841 shows his birthplace as Yorkshire

lindyloo 1....should the date for Richards death be 1832, at St Helens Garstang? Age 60 which makes his birth 1772ish. Can you give a bit more info for the folk on here eg the info you have on where he married (Westmoreland) and where his children were baptised , then we know the reason for you posting on the Westmoreland page. :D
