Gloucester in Canbridge
« on: Friday 02 May 14 14:07 BST (UK) »
in the 1871 Census,
RG10/Piece 1590/Folio: 30/ Page: 1

I've a family living in Gloucester St, with a Gloucester Place off it.
Magdalen St and Castle St are in the same Parish.

I've found a good map of the area for 1886:

http://maps.nls.uk/view/101571847

Which shows Castle St and Magdalene St, and an AREA called Gloucester Gardens.

But that's my best "hit". Can anybody find me a map with
Gloucester St itself shown?

You can see Gloucester Street on the 1886-1888 1:500 Town Plan at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=544478,259387

Ouch - my eyes! Took me a while to find a shared context between my link and yours,
but I finally spotted the "Cromwellian Earthworks" from your link shows as some shading
just above the text "Gloucester Gardens" on mine.

The "old maps" image is too small to be pretty, but does (indeed) show Street, Terrace
AND place.

Thank you.

(how DID you find that?!)

You can enlarge the image of the !;500 plan, (select from the list on the right), and the other maps by left clicking. I found it by searching the area you mentioned.
