Maiden name of Sarah Bolton or Boulton, born 1817 Holywell?
« on: Friday 10 January 14 15:54 GMT (UK) »
From the 1861 census I have found my Gt. Gt Grandfather, Benjamin Bolton, and his older brother Thomas.  Their mother is Sarah Bolton, born Holywell in 1817.  By 1861 she is a widow. I can't find any of them on the 1851 census.  I have the two sons births, the older brother in Holywell as Thomas Boulton, and the younger in Durham as Benjamin Boulton.

I don't know anything about Sarah, except that which is stated on the census, and I don't know the name of her husband.  Can't find a marriage with surname Bolton or Boulton, spouse Sarah.

Not sure where to go next, any suggestion would be appreciated!
Leicestershire: Gowan, Bent.
Durham: Bolton, Richardson, Morgan, Doxford, Corner, Chisholm, Smithson, Shields, Stark, Hutton, Heckles.
Co Wexford, Ireland and Canada: Gowan

Hi

Thomas was bpt 28 July 1843, Holywell to James and Sarah

There's a James Boulton bpt 11 August 1805, Hawarden, to Thomas and Mary.  I wonder if that's him?

Think WR got there before you Kay - but you typed them out - he hardly ever does, so you win   :)

Can't find a marriage so far for Thomas Amos and a Mary. There's one to a Sarah Hughes in 1805  :-\

As Thomas Amos was a soldier, they could have married anywhere during the Napoleonics  :-\
