The 1915 state census has Joseph, Ella, Mary, and Sarah in Poughkeepsie at 18 Corlies Ave.  Joseph has no occupation, Ella is a dressmaker, and Mary & Sarah were doing housework.

Joseph appears in the 1916 Poughkeepsie city directory, but not 1917.

I found an obituary for Joseph, who died 24 Apr. 1917, on www.fultonhistory.com.  If you do a search for the exact phrase "Joseph Mackenzie dead", it should come up.

Did the elder Mary have a brother named Robert Hunter?  If so, I found an article on the Fulton History that appears to be from 1907 about a court case involving Robert's widow suing Mary Mackenzie and an insurance company over Robert's insurance benefits where Mary Mackenzie was listed as the beneficiary.

I am overwhelmed with the information you sent. I greatly appreciate it! I have to go to work, and I will get back with you tomorrow. Yes, she had a brother named Robert Hunter. Tom

Thank you for the information. I did not know much about the 3 sisters. Only one of them, Sarah, was married. I guess there were no children, so not much to look for. In the 1901 Ireland census, Joseph had a brother that lived at Balleyreagh Tempo House 29 and House 27 were some Hunters. Mary Hunter must have been a close neighbor to Joseph. Maybe that is how they met. Tom
