Darby's falls NSW name: Newham & Florance& Beckhaus Family's
« on: Wednesday 10 December 14 17:41 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find information in regards to land? Who works in mines?
Also where to find burial sites in this district.  Does anyone know?  :)

This is a link to your previous thread

Here you established that John FLORANCE married Lucy NEWHAM at Carcoar NSW in 1883 (4230).

One of their children was Jack FLORANCE (born 1885 Windsor NSW #22564) who married Florence E A HOLLOWAY in 1915 in England.

Their daughter Queenie was born in 1916

Where exactly would you like to go from here?  :)

Hi there,

1.  Land ..... check the NSW  land and property information website, including the historic maps which are freely available to search online. http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/land_titles/historical_research

2. Mines ..... try the NSW State Records Office, including this index http://srwww.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/searchform.aspx?id=63

3. Burials ...  NSW BDM death registrations include burial information, naming the cemetery where the burial took place.  Official transcriptions are as good as the real deal certificates.    http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/bdm_fh.html

John FLORANCE, of Woodstock, died 6 Nov 1891, Probate granted 1 March 1892.   Woodstock is still a locality near Cowra.  Darby Falls is near both Woodstock and Cowra.  Cowra would be the nearest township for both.

Re "who works in mines"

Here's a cutting from a newspaper naming some people who were working in the mine at Darby's Falls in 1891 and sadly, a mining accident at that site.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/64223197  Bathurst Free Press and Mining Journal 7 Feb 1891

Henry Gaspard SCHEY was aged 26 years;  he died 5 February 1891 mine cave in at Battery Point; he is buried in the C of E section of the Cowra Cemetery. http://www.australiancemeteries.com/nsw/cowra/cowra.htm
