The Shields are an old and extensive Hills District family.  See http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=snake2000&id=I83288  for some information which helps further searching.
Cheers Neil

Yes the family of Reginald SHIELDS who enlisted in WW! is easy to trace HOWEVER did Reginald born 1894 actually attend Forbes High School?  The Reginald SHIELDS mentioned in the news snip in 1912 as attending Wongajong surely wasn't 18 years of age.  The ages are wrong.

The school article refers to 'Master' Reginald Shields and the term Master typically referred to boys probably under 14 years of age.

http://www.forbes-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/our-school/history

Some of the dates are not making sense  :-\    (opened in Oct 1926  :) )

but from 1905, two years of secondary education at the District School

1917, a High School (3 class rooms and science)
