Hi, Judy, I have found several curate's who were also School Masters. Curate's were mainly assistants to the 'full Reverend' of the Parish and I can only presume they gained their income from teaching and some work in the church until they gained full time status in the church.

There are two Newspaper notices of death:-

Liverpool Mercury 1 July 1851 and Carlisle Journal 11 July 1851
June 27 at Claughton Birkenhead aged 54 Rev William Richardson June 27th of Consumption

Small minor correction William did not die of Consumption. (if you read the newspaper & not the index.)
I don't believe William was a Curate of St. Mary's.

Have you tried the CCed (Clergy of the Church of England Database) there are a few William Richardson's in the right time frame, but I don't know enough about him to know if any of the places are relevant.

Hi, Judy, from the Chester Chronicle and Cheshire and Northwest Advertiser Friday September 28th 1849.
Ordination in Chester
The following were admitted to Holy Orders
Richardson William Queens Oxford, (you can now try and track when he got this degree) many on the list have BA or BCL after their name, but not William (could just have been missed)?
Then in the list after it states:
Following clergymen were afterwards licenced by the Bishop to several curacies under mentioned
William Richardson to Bidston.
There is another reference to him but the site is too busy at the moment. I will try again in a few minutes.
Hope this all helps

Thanks again for the replies.

Colin - you are right I did not look at the actual newspaper article as my subscription has run out. (It's an expensive hobby!!!)

Does it by any chance say what he did die of please?

That is interesting Cath. Sounds like him. Now how do I go about taking that forward?

William Richardson to Bidston.

Explains what he was doing at Manor View in Upton Road (mostly in Bidston, than Claughton.)
