Hit a brick wall for birth/death of John. Discovered a possible death of son Samuel 4/4/1798
Have christenings of other children Richard 25/5/1799, Jane,4/4//1789, Thomas, 4/3/1785, Mary,3/3//1782 & Edward 16/8/1801. Cannot locate any deaths or other with the exception of Samuel d.1798 & Edward 1843.
Seeking Johns "whereabouts " 1790-1797 as a 7 year age gap between children Jane & Samuel.

The National Burial Index lists the burial of a John Powell age 79 at All Saints Church Hanley William on 27 Dec 1835.  Could this be him?

I have John Powell b. 1754.
He and Jane Mapp had 10 children.
In addition to the ones you listed I have Thomas b. 1780 ( he possibly died and they used the name again for a later son), Ann b. 1784 d. 1866,  Sarah b.  1785, and John b. 1793.
I have the second Thomas  b.1787.

searching for Father & mother John Powell born Abt 1750/1754. I have found a Thomas Powell in the poll year of 1714 his abode Eastham  and handwritten reference "chimney park". This could be a coincidence, but John Powell's grandson Edmund Powell born 1834 lived at chimney Park Eastham  from Abt 1868 till his death in 1879. Feel like I could be clutching at straws? Thank you

Why can't I find a baptism/ christening for John Powell with Father Thomas and mother Mary?

John may have not been born/christened Hanley William.
Was Jane from there?.
Brides usually Married in their own Parish.

Now on Genuki, in nearby places to Hanley William, we have places in Herefordshire and Shropshire only a few miles away;
I would at least check Hereford and Shropshire as well for his Christening.

Looking at my tree I think I should have listed John Powell about 1754 as I  have no record for his birth..  I was going by the birth date of birth of Jane Mapp.

Hi again,
As Kay pointed out;
The National Burial Index lists the burial of a John Powell age 79 at All Saints Church Hanley William on 27 Dec 1835.
So born c 1756 so you are not far out.
Trouble is we have no idea where John was from.

F/S has 2 possibles, 1 in Ribbesford and 1 in Halesowen  1756
The only ones on F/S with Parents Thomas/Mary are born Herefordshire  1754 and Bedfordshire 1753.
