From Rowley Regis, it's a short(!) walk to the Birmingham Canal.

Bromsgrove is close to Tardebigge Locks on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal.

The canals connect through the Birmingham Navigation.

I wonder if he was born in Bromsgrove & baptised in Rowley Regis where the family may have lived at the time. personally I was born in Worcester City but was christened at Hartlebury about 14 miles from the place I was born & that was in 1944 so these things still happen.

Good hunting

Thanks Phil,  It seems possible from all the replies that the child(Hannah) baptised in Rowley Regis was my ancestor.  Will try to learn more about her parents -- James Parker and Hannah ?.
Difficult to find mother's maiden names in that era.
Kind regards
