1891 census for Annie M Brown
« on: Monday 29 September 14 04:51 BST (UK) »
Hi all
Would I be able to get the household of Anna M Brown born around 1837 in Henley Oxfordshire in the 1891 census?  This is her 2nd marriage and I do not have any information on her husband or her children.  Her husband is Thomas.  Also is there a chance I could have the household in the 1901 census for the same person?
Thanking you

Hi,
In 1901 there is an Anna M Brown living at 29 Queen Street, Brighton.  She was a seamstress and May M. Long her granddaughter was living with her.  Esther A. Brogan was visiting her.
I am not sure whether you have the marriage details for her marriage to Thomas Brown but they are as follows:
Married at St Giles, Reading, Berks on 11 October 1886.  Thomas Brown, 36, Tailor, Southampton Street and Anna Maria Long, 48, widow, Southampton Street.  Fathers:  George Brown, Tailor and James Pither, Grocer.  Witnesses:  John James Lawrence, Helena Collis, Lydia Sophia Long.
She married James Long at St Giles, Reading on 1 January 1874.

Berkshire:  Adnams, Cripps, Lamden
Wiltshire:  Fray, Head, Popejoy
Hampshire:  Cummings, Hiscock

Hi berklass and Kay
Thank you for your replies.  I have Lydia in London in 1901 and it seems that Anna had only 1 child through both marriages.  It looks like that the granddaughter May M Long could be Lydia's child.   I did have the details of her second marriage but no details of Thomas's birth.
Thanks
