Jacobite Donald Gollan of Avoch transported 1747
« on: Saturday 23 February 13 16:43 GMT (UK) »
Following Culloden many Jacobites were transported/banished as slaves to the American plantations, amongst them the above Donald Gollan who I believe may be related to my line from Killearnan..

Does anyone have further information on the family of or what happened to Donald?
Ireland, Co Antrim: Kerr; Hollinger; Forsythe; Moore
Ireland, Co Louth: Carson; Leslie
Ireland, Co Kerry: Ferris
Scotland, Perthshire/Glasgow:  Stewart

I don't know if it is of any help but in my Avoch family line there is a Donald Jack 'ree' and I found that he married a Janet Ross on 13 April 1797. Janet was born 10 Nov 1773 and her mother was an Ann Gollan married to an Alexander Ross. No further details unfortunately owing to the records being very sparse back that far.
