Thank you so much claire t, glencare and mabel for all your work. I think that maybe I didnt want to believe the workhouse scenario! Maybe it was inevitable after Benjamin died.I dont understand why they would move from Easingwold in Yorkshire(where I am now!)to wiltshire. Most people were moving the other way up north for work to the industrial areas.

If you have access to the 1841 census, I think Ann York and a small female baby with the same surname are resident in the Easingwold Workhouse before she married Benjamin.
