Are there any specific records for the above? Eg employment or death at sea.?
Would wives and family travel with their husbands.

what years ? there are some crew lists for Manx registered boats for some years - consult Manx Museum
there would be no other employment regs tho late in 19th there were exams for Masters certificates required by board of trade (tho not sure these applied to inshore fishing boats)
NO women on board (thought very bad luck) tho boats may be used at rare times to move families + cargo - sons working with fathers fairly common - often a crew might have several relatives on board.
Deaths at sea would be noted - tho again depends on years + jurisdiction - often reports in local press best source (Manx newspapers are online tho by subscription - www.imuseum.im - free at Manx Museum)
any thing with a Manx Connection

The time would be late 1800s early 1900s.
We plan to go to IOM and will check out the I museum .
Thanks for your help.
