So it looks like there were assets in Rhodesia in his estate

I have had a look at the death notice (volume 25 image 256) and it would appear as though he must have had an estate in Rhodesia.  I see that the Board of Executors was appointed on 4 January 1923 and the file was only closed on 13 December 1923.  As he died on 3 August 1916 it would appear as though this was a lengthy estate to sort out.

As a distiller, did he possibly have a distillery in Rhodesia?  Do you know where he lived when he was in Rhodesia, or possibly where his relatives lived?

Thank you for helping with this, I am not aware of a distillery, but have only begun to research this branch of my family.

The John Anthony McKersie above him on the death notices was his son, they settled in Harare I believe.

I see that the Board of Executors was appointed on 4 January 1923 and the file was only closed on 13 December 1923 - Where did you see this information please?

If you go to familysearch, click on the map of Africa, then Zimbabwe, then "start searching.'  Click on the first option - I cannot remember exactly what it says but does say index records in the title.  The screen will then come up with a whole lot of index records, ignore those and scroll right down to the very bottom where it says death notices.  Click on that.  Then go to volume 25 image 256.  The reason for the number not being 229 as in the index is because there are a number of blank pages in the beginning of the volume.

You would do exactly the same thing for his son, but would need the volume number from the index.  Just remember to always add on a few pages to the image number.  You then check the top of the page for the number and scroll backwards or forwards to get to the number you want.

If you have a problem pm me with your email address and I will download it and email it to you.

Hello Tom 23,
Did you find these Wills/Testaments on ScotlandsPeople? I typed in McKersie (no forename) & year range 1900 - 1925. 16 matches came up including the following:
William McKersie, Distiller, Craigard, Campbeltown. Died 3/8/1916 at Craigard. Testate.
Dunoon Sheriff Court. SC/51/32/70.     View 10 Credits (13 Pages)
William MacKersie, Distiller, Craigard, Campbeltown. Died 3/8/1916 at Craigard. Testate.
Dunoon Sheriff Court Wills. SC/51/34/9. View 10 Credits (12 Pages)
Also a Will for John MacKersie, Distiller, Auchinlee, Campbeltown. Died 7/11/1904.
Archibald James MacKersie, late of Auchinlee. Died 16/7/1915 aboard Hospital Ship 'Asturias'
Edith Kate MacKersie (Miss) Auchinlee, Campbeltown. Died 24/10/1913 at Dundee.
Isabella MacKersie (Mrs Norwood) Campbeltown. Died 16/3/1916 at Campbeltown.

               Regards,     Dod.

PS. Trying an earlier year range brought up these:
Archibald MacKersie 15/12/1875. Distiller in Campbeltown.
William MacKersie, Distiller, Campbeltown. Died 2/12/1878.
Jean MacKersie or Mitchell, Campbeltown. Widow. Died 30/5/1880.

I realise now that was on the left hand page, I hadn't noticed it was related before! ::) Thanks

There are certainly some names on the wills list above that I recognise thank you.
