It looks as if Lucy would have been around 34 when she married, so not much chance of children being born to the marriage.

There's no obvious reason why a 34 year old woman could not have started having children at that age.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Yes, as you say aghadowey, my first thought was that she could have had children  :), but I can't see any on the IGI and Roots Ireland doesn't cover Wexford yet.

There is another marriage for a Lucy Boland in Enniscorthy in 1928 (I wondered if Thomas had died?) but surely she would be recorded as Roche?

Thanks for your interest.  Kit

Today I ordered a couple of certificates at the GRO Dublin (thanks to culbaire and Shane).  Can I just say, no frills but an absolutely excellent service.  I had the details required and 4 copy certificates costing 4 Euro each were with me within 5 minutes.

I ordered the death certificate for an Ellen Ronan (GGGM), in 1924 at Enniscorthy recorded as aged 83 just on the off chance that this could be my Ellen who, according to the 1901 & 1911 should have been born c1836 (married to Patrick c1825) and the informant is my Lucy Roche (nee Boland).  One happy person (although Ellen should be recorded closer to 90)

Sitting here at Treacy's Hotel, Enniscorthy with a large glass of red wine  :D

Hi Kit

Have I understood  this correctly? you received the certs 5 minutes after ordering them.

Please explain how you did it, I would like to receive mine just as quick.

....

in the GRO research room in Abbey St.

You fill out the references from the BMD Index on an order form, pay the fee, wait at a desk and the research certs are delivered to you.

At quiet time orders are processed  very quickly - first thing in the morning is best - i.e. as they open at 9:30

Hi Shane

Now I understand, I need to be in the GRO office in Dublin. I thought there might be some way of getting them by email.

Certs by email, or downland would be a great feature... but unfortunately there are no immediate plans for a system like that, that I know of.

Apparently the GRO did have a project to scan the register books, initially for internal use. This project was not completed, but could eventually be the basis for an online system, if it was ever reactivated.
