Hi

My ancestors came from nearby Selkirk. My 5xgreat grandfather was born in Selkirk which is not far from Galashiels.

Hi terry

My ancestor was John Stewart born in 1738 son of James and Isabella Stewart formerly Dickson in Selkirk. John had a twin brother James Stewart and the baptism entry says that they were born around 10:30 at night.

The Borders Family History Society spent last weekend recording in Eastlands Cemetery.  A member has been working on it for a long time but a group spent the weekend checking etc.  so it won't be long or a CD is up for sale.

Anderson, Baxter (Kirk Andrews on Esk), Goodfellow, Hunter, Lowrie, Hume of Hume, Dixon, Weatherston, Weddell, Clazy.   Trotter, Happer, Gillie  all Berwickshire or Roxburghshire, Scotland

Is there an update on the Eastlands Index, I have information on quite a few Ballantyne's that were buried there, but believe there may be more of my family (grand mother was a Ballantyne). Her grandfather was the Burgh Chamberlain for Gala.
