Robert Christopher Packe (born approx 1827?
« on: Sunday 25 November 12 08:22 GMT (UK) »
Dear all,

Could any-one located some more details of Robert Christopher Packe who moved to the Falklands in 1850? He was from Norfolk and had a brother Edward Packe. He became captain of the 34th foot at 12 February 1847.

Any details would be warmly welcome,

Justin Jansen

As far as I have been able to discover he was born in 1824 in Hurleston, Northamptonshire to Colonel Henry Packe and his wife Eliza Isham, Colonel Packe bought Twyford Hall in Norfolk in 1830, and I believe he was born in Norfolk.

Robert C Packe died in Upper Norwood in 1893.  He appears in the 1891 census in Beckenham, Kent

Hi Justin,if i have the right R.C. Packe, then his father was Lieutenant Colonel Henry Packe of Twyford Hall. Am i on the right track??. It also seems that Robert & Edward had left the Falklands by WW1. There is a R.C. Pake memorial, it says he was Flight Lieutenant R.N.A.S. born to Vere Packe & Winifred at Sulivan House in the Falklands, 17/01/1899 (grand son or Edwards side???)  he was killed at sea, on patrol duty off Great Yarmouth aged 19 on 21/06/1918. Dave.

Packe lived in 1850-1860 at the Falklands, as far as I know (most likely longer).

The 1891 census referred to earlier shows that Robert was single and living with 3 servants.
